Strawberry Vanilla Rice Crispy Hearts

Yum!  Yum!  Yum!

Have you seen these marshmallows at the grocery store?

They are Vanilla Snowmen and Strawberry marshmallows.

When I saw them sitting next to each other in my pantry, I thought, why not combine them and make rice crispy treats?!  Which, by-the-way, are one of my favorite treats.

Just make your favorite rice crispy treats recipe and substitute the regular marshmallows with the strawberry and vanilla ones.  After the marshmallows are melted and you've removed the marshmallows from the heat, add a teaspoon of vanilla, if you want.  It will intensify that vanilla flavor.

Also, a little tip for DELICIOUS rice crispy treats, use a stick of butter - yes, a whole stick!  It makes the treats taste all caramel-y and good.  Not so good on the hips, but oh so good in the belly!  Fair warning, though: you will hate me forever for giving you this tip.  Once you try them this way, you will never go back :)

I used a cookie cutter and cut them into hearts after they cooled:

Then drizzled a little melted chocolate chips:
And I cut little bite sized squares out of the left-over rice crispy treats in the pan and dipped them in the remaining chocolate:

They make a fun little twist on an American favorite!
And a perfect treat for Valentine's Day.

Enjoy!

PS - I have some fun projects coming up including:
- fun gift tags
- an adorable purse embellishment
- I may throw in a yummy Superbowl recipe
- and a surprise project!
